Think about when you were a kid or teenager and you met and became best friends with the most awesome person you have then or possibly will ever meet in your life. Playing House, is a show about those best friends, all grown up and still having the best time EVER. I personally can relate because I have a childhood bestie and it’s like the show creators have met us or something. As it happens the show itself was created and is inspired by the real life friendship between its stars, Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair.

The final episode of the final season of, Glee. “Good riddance” might be the knee jerk response for many after tonight’s airing of the series finale. Yeah sure, maybe some of that ire is well earned. Season 4 anyone? But here’s the thing to keep in mind: even if you have a cactus where your heart should be, and absolutely hate musicals, there’s no denying the impact Glee has had over their 6 epic seasons. Teen pregnancy, bullying, self-esteem, tolerance, friendship, sex, an array of LGBT issues, failure, success, death, love, domestic abuse, drugs and I am literally not exaggerating when I say the list goes on. The one and only time a show like this has existed ever in the history of television was the 1980’s drama, Fame. Well, two, if you count Kid’s Incorporated (which I will because I freaking loved that show!).

Well, well, well, America…it would seem the Johnson’s have finally arrived. Taking on controversial issues like racism, spanking and Black Santa, Black-ish has made a strong case for being The Cosby Show of the 21st century. Sort of. On the roster are several African American cultural mores that Black-ish takes turns mocking, supporting and then educating the viewer on things, we in the African American community, take for granted. In all honesty, it’s a public service if you ask me. Thanks to this show, I no longer have to explain what “the Nod” is to my more…pigment challenged friends and associates. All kidding aside, as it turns out, Black-ish is more of a delight than this viewer ever expected.

By all accounts, Jane The Virgin, is a bon-a-fide hit. Newly minted Golden Globe winner, Gina Rodriguez, who plays Jane, pretty much said it all during her acceptance speech saying, "This award is so much more than myself. It represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes." It also happens to be the first Globe win for the CW. In its unapologetic Telenovela styled approach to entertaining us, Jane the Virgin, serves as a major culture cross-over show and so far, America is LOVING IT.
